Student successes at the 37th National Student Research Conference

OTDK

The 37th OTDK Physics, Earth Sciences and Mathematics Section took place between 22-25 April 2025, where three students presented their research work related to the work of our research group.

Margaréta Gazsi presented her work in the Geology, Sedimentology and Paleontology Section with the title „Zircon U-Pb geochronology and volcanology of the pryroclastic rocks of the Gelénes-1 borehole (Hungary).” In the Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology Section Emese Oelberg-Pánczél, MSc student, presented " He- and Ne-isotopic composition of olivine phenocrysts of Quaternary alkaline basalts in the Persány volcanic field. Inferences on the nature of the source rock" and 3rd year BSc student Kende Fülöp Szűcs presented their work on " Noble gas isotopic composition of olivine phenocrysts of the Miocene-Pliocene alkaline basalts in the Carpathian-Pannonian region.".

All three theses and the presentations received very positive evaluations and a lot of praise.

Emese Oelberg-Pánczél was awarded the first prize of the Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology Section and Kende Fülöp Szűcs received the third prize.

It is always a great pleasure to see the enthusiasm and perseverance of young professionals, and it is a pleasure to be involved in this as a topic leader and consultant. We are very proud of them, congratulate them and wish them further joint work and professional success!

Their research was supported by several members of the research team:

Réka Lukács and Szabolcs Harangi were the supervisors of Emese Oelberg-Pánczél and Fülöp Kende Szűcs, and Kata Molnár was a consultant.

Margaréta Gazsi was supervised by Réka Lukács, with professional support from Péter Gál and János Szepesi as consultants.
